My Students

I have the pleasure of getting to work with an energetic, gregarious group of special needs students who found school work disengaging and difficult in their home school. My students were placed in my classroom because their behaviors continuously got them suspended and an alternate setting seemed more appropriate for them. These students benefit from a self-contained, stable environment which nurtures them to be the best they can be in a safe, no judgement zone.

The majority of my students are significantly below their actual grade level, in some cases up to 3 years delayed.

Reading is their primary struggle and this is what I'm hoping to improve with your help!

My Project

This project will give special needs students with significant behavioral issues access to easy to read materials that will allow them to look forward to reading. One of the hardest things to get an older student who struggles in reading to do is to read materials at their level. They feel that the books are for babies and they want chapter books. Hopefully these books will give them the motivation and encouragement to get past the social norm that they are putting against themselves and become great readers! It is your donations that will help them achieve greatness when they re-enter their home school after their suspensions are served.
