My Students

My students are in a dual credit college/high school class, and they are studying World Literature. They are students who appreciate their education and are working hard to achieve their goals.

Since I now teach at a new building and have a brand new classroom, there are many pieces of furniture that I still need in order to make my classroom fully functionable for them and for me.

My students are young adults who are just starting out in life and figuring out what to do with their lives. One student wants to be a fashion designer and another wants to be a nurse. I am proud to be a part of their journeys to meet their goals in life... and it all comes back to reading and writing.

My Project

This project entails a book club for a unit on the meaning of life, which is the final unit for our senior students. Students will select one of four texts that explore different philosophical angles on this topic and the answer to the question: "What is the meaning of life?" Students will then apply this concept to their own lives and answer the questions for themselves. The books we need for this unit are Siddhartha Hermann Hesse, and One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich. We think these texts will enhance students' contemplation and consideration of what life means in the face of change, crisis, turmoil, hardship, and joy.
