Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach at a Title 1 school in Bryan, TX. We transitioned from a middle school campus to an intermediate school campus. I'm an avid reader and I would love to share my passion for books with my students. My students are eager, talented students. They love to learn about amazing things and with the help of a book, it would widen the minds. Getting books for my students would help them be exposed to a different genre of book.
"If adventure will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad."
The type of books that are available is about coming of age, adventures, the life choice, and how to see things in a different point of view will help shape the mind of my students.
My Project
Having a set of fiction novels and audiobooks will allow my students have the opportunity to read in class that is grade level appropriate. As students begin to increase their reading comprehension these additional resources will be used in addition to the reading curriculum they are currently following. Students can choose which book will gain their interest. With the audiobooks, it will help my students that struggle with reading providing additional support while they read the text.
“My project will make a difference because it will create an opportunity to read grade level novels and provide additional support for struggling readers.”
