Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third graders are curious learners who get excited to learn and discover their world. The majority of my students are English Learners with a great drive to be successful.
Our classroom is a place where we all learn from one another and respect one another.
This safe place is important to my students as some consider it their home.
My goal is to spark a love of learning for my students. It is amazing seeing them grow and thrive as they find confidence in their own intelligence.
My Project
I recently went to a training and was made aware of some amazing books that are out there to help me grow as a teacher. I have selected books that will help me in improving my ELA block. These books focus on improving practices in reading, writing, and building comprehension skills.
We always tell our students to read to gain more knowledge, well I would like to spend the summer doing that as well.
In reflecting in my teaching practice, I noticed that I needed support with ELA in order to better meet the needs of my students. In reading these books I will be able to become prepared and have strategies to help struggling readers, as well as supporting them in writing and comprehension skills.
The other two books on Thomas Jefferson are for a teaching seminar that I will be taking over the summer to improve my social studies practice. These books will help grow in this area and allow me to be a better well-rounded teacher for my students.
