Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school needs your help to take our students on a Reading Safari! Help us explore stories from China, Africa, Japan and the African-American tradition among our many destinations! Alumni and faculty volunteers from Meredith College have selected some wonderful itineraries for us to explore through books in the MeredithREADS program. Our tour guides will be trained volunteer readers who come into our classrooms and read with the children.
Our volunteer guides want to take us to Norway to meet The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and to meet the Emperor of China who waits for us in the story of The Empty Pot! They can take us to countries where we will get to know the mysterious Abiyoyo and the little girl with the talking eggs. In addition to exposure to the literary traditions a number of cultures, our students will be exposed to college-educated adults - an opportunity that many of them do not have in their daily lives. Your generous donation will help many classes of students to explore the world's cultures. We hope that you will help us reach our destinations!
