Mr. Townsend from Chicago IL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need more books like The Big Dinosaur Dig, Junie B. Jones #15: Junie B. Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket, Roscoe Riley Rules #2: Never Swipe a Bully's Bear, Soccer Team Upset, and many other books to help expand their knowledge, experiences, and vocabulary. Serving over 250 students means that a vast majority of books are needed to help appeal to all students interest.

I teach in a Chicago school where a vast majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We work hard to ensure all of our students needs are being met and one of those needs is library books. Our students are intelligent, hard-working, and motivated to read, but need help finding the right books for them. Oftentimes, finding culturally relevant books can be a difficult task. Our goal is to develop our library so that it appeals to students from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of likes and interests.

Students are constantly reading at our school and it can feel boring when you see the same books over and over again. This project will liven up the bookshelf and reinvest students in the joy of reading.
These books will help our higher readers continue to find enjoying books.
It will also serve as a reinvestment of male readers, who typically find it difficult to locate books about topics they enjoy. In general, this project will impact each student in this building in a positive way.
