My Students

My Extended Learning classroom is a place for gifted students to experience challenge and discover who they are and how they will use this ability to change the world.

Students will spend this this year learning about STEM resources and experience a variety of building activities to strengthen their problem solving skills.

I have the opportunity to impact two schools at which I teach. There are different abilities at each school and a diverse background of students. Hopefully we will get them on the path to learning about engineering and coding that they would not have otherwise studied about.

My Project

Purchasing books for gifted readers so that they can remain engaged. I have resources from a Iowa Talented and Gifted presentation of what books are good for gifted. My students have researched the books and these are the books that my school library did not carry. We will use the The Hate U Give, Amal Unbound, and What If... for group work and students will share their book with other students in the class in a form of an oral book report. We will also share these books with other classrooms and do book talks. We will put a display in our school library to tell about the books as well.
