Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth grade newly bilingual students walk into the classroom every day so eager to learn. They all try their very best to succeed; however, other things can get in their way.
All my students deserve the chance to receive a proper education with the materials needed right in front of them.
Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and 100% of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. All are English language learners, and some have come to the US for a better education and life. These lovely students come to school with smiles on their faces regardless of what is happening in their lives.
My Project
With these new books added to our classroom library students will be able to expand their worlds and vocabulary. They will read newer books that are of interest to them and hopefully it will foster their love for reading and learning.
I want to be able to offer current and new reading materials to my students who do not have books at home to enjoy.
The best way for these students to increase their reading ability is to read, read and read some more. These new books will make that possible for these students in my 5th grade transitional bilingual classroom.
