My students need Spanish book sets for Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Inheritance Cycle for our classroom library's fun Free Voluntary Reading time.
I have an amazing group of students from many different walks of life. My 265 students range from 6th grade to 8th grade, with various linguistical abilities and some of them are from bilingual families.
Most of my students are non-native Spanish speakers, who are just starting to learn Spanish and 60 of my students are native speakers from various Latin American countries.
My non-native speakers are enthusiastic, curious, and actively problem-solving when they are faced with comprehension questions of a story that is completely in the target language. My native Spanish speakers are enthusiastic, fun, curious, and hungry for authentic resources that showcase their Latin American culture, traditions, and values.
My Project
I am creating a Spanish classroom library for our Spanish department. I'm requesting Spanish book sets for Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Inheritance Cycle. I would love for these books to be resources that we may not use in our classroom for direct instruction but for fun.
In our school, we have native speakers that would love to have books that can be used for fun and not to be read as part of an assignment.
If you help in this project, English Language Learning students will see books in their native language and can be easily attainable for them to read. You will be helping in sharing the passion and excitement of reading themes of resiliency, family, values, self-discovery, and friendship.
