My Students

My students live in a very diverse and high poverty area. My students attend an urban school district. Many of my students experience trauma on a daily basis. My students move often and have a very high transient rate from school to school. My student, therefore, has many social and emotional needs, and require many unique and basic supplies to be successful throughout the year. My students really appreciate the small things in life, a new pencil, folder, and crayons.

My students need many things in order to be successful in school, sometimes just basic supplies.

My Project

These materials will provide students with the opportunity for individual learning. The books will be used for guided reading and independent reading. Students will have the opportunity to have access to texts at their reading level and provide access to materials of interest. Each student will be given books to place in there independent reading bags. Students will be able to partner read and share their love for reading because there will be multiple copies of the books. This provides students with opportunities to establish a real love for literature and help them build their reading skills and to practice their fluency.
