Help me give my students the opportunity to continue learning beyond the walls of our classroom and building by supplying them with access to fiction and non-fiction books that are on their level along with basic school supplies.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom was a loving learning community. The students came to school each day with a desire to learn, even though many of their home circumstances gave them reason to be distracted due to low income. When the stay at home order was enforced, we were just beginning our Spring break and have not been back to our loving learning community since.
However, this has not stopped us from staying connected.
My students and I meet 4 times per week on Zoom to continue the learning, and to share stories of individual stories of triumph with each other. Even though this is nothing like any of us have ever experienced before, I encourage my community of loved learners to continue to shine, even online!
My Project
While many of my students have direct access to screen time, and digital material, there is nothing like having actual books and materials in a child's hands to be able to use. These materials will help my students to complete distance learning assignments, as well as give them an opportunity to use their supplies to bridge the summer learning gap.
My students will be able to use their new crayons, markers and colored pencils to complete distance learning projects as well as to draw and color pictures just like they would normally do.
