My kindergartners are creating life-long friendships. They are learning to collaborate, build social skills, problem-solve, and develop creativity and discovering who they are as individuals. They are eager to explore the world around them through purposeful play.
The students in my classroom come from a rural community with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic statuses.
Many students are learning English for the first time and rely on school programs for food and clothing.
While students may enter school with limited experiences, when these young learners step into the classroom, I believe they each have unlimited potential and deserve, rich, hands-on learning experiences to help shape their future!
My Project
Beginning readers struggle to see themselves as capable readers. These wordless books and supplies will help my young students realize that they can read and comprehend books independently.
I want my students to know that they CAN read!
Students will read, retell the stories, inference pictures and illustrate their understanding and comprehension. As students learn to read and write they can make up their own words to go with each story.
Many of the books included in this project are beautiful Caldecott Medal award winning books with engaging illustrations. This project will help us build our classroom library and provide resources for beginning readers.
