This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a fun and loving bunch of scholars. My scholars are five and six years old. Most of my scholars come from low-income families and come to school to build relationships that allow them to feel valued, safe, and members of a community and to enhance their learning and listening skills. In our classroom, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences. Having a cozy rug would allow for a place for each student to spread out and would help to enhance the community and their learning in our room!
My Project
Our scholars need books for listening and diving into reading aloud to support their comprehension skills! These specific books follow comprehension units that we will be focusing on.
We are looking to enhance our comprehension skills by diving into these books, one per week!
We are doing many activities each week based on each book. After we are done with the book, the scholars will have a chance to put the book in their book baggies for personal use inside of the classroom. When our class gets new books, our scholars get so excited! We love books and sharing our learning with each other as we read them.
