The 5th-grade students of my school are a wonderful group of children that are in dire need of good resources.
Our students live in a very tough and challenging area in East San Jose, California and because of this, my goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where they can come into my classroom and escape the hardships of our community.
I believe that with good resources and high-quality education, our students will become successful citizens within our community.
I am on a continuous journey in adding books that my students want to read in our classroom library. I would like to offer my students many different kinds of books that they can choose to read so that they can grow a lifelong passion for reading.
I have made an effort to make my classroom a calming environment where students can read independently throughout the day.
This is my first year teaching 5th grade so I have just started to build my classroom library of books appropriate for my students' ages.
These are books that my students have been asking for and will excite them even more about independent reading time.
