Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a Title 1 school in San Diego and there is a high turnover of students at my school. My students are entering first grade and will continue to read different genres. They are so excited about reading and I get to introduce new reading strategies to them.
I see the milestones of beginning
readers. I just enjoy seeing my students grow into loving to read.
At this point I have a need for books in my class. I need books to keep my students interested in reading. Over the years of teaching my books have been used so much that a lot of books are missing pages or I’ve had to discard them. I along with my class would appreciate the donation of books.
My Project
These books are going to make a difference in my class by allowing my students to read these books after I have read them in a literacy lesson. These books will be placed in our classroom library so students can enjoy them all year. Also, my students can take these books home and read them to their parents, too.
These picture books will help my students visualize the meaning of the lessons of the stories, which will keep students interested in reading.
When my students have an interest in reading, their reading goals and milestones can be reached. Please help my students reach their goals!
