My students need to learn how to be good citizens and how to be kind to one another. With the help of these picture books, I can teach character education to my students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"I pledge to do my best today. I will work hard. I will be kind. Who I am has value. What I think has value. Who I will become is invaluable to the world. Learn more! Achieve more! Be more! On our journey to college and beyond!" Every morning we recite this pledge as a way to start our day.
My students are dedicated to trying their best each day even though they come from less than ideal circumstances.
I teach in a Title 1 school in a dual immersion program. I have 60 students. Over 90% on them qualify for free or reduced lunch. 75% of them are English Language Learners. Their parents work 2 or more jobs trying to make ends meet.
My Project
Many of my students come from different cultures and low socioeconomic circumstances. I will use these books to teach my students character education. Each book was selected to teach a specific skill to my students.
Through the use of each of these books, I will be able to teach my students vital life skills in a fun and engaging way.
Rather than feeling like I am lecturing my students, they will be able to have story read to them that we will then reflect on together and learn the life skills they need to be polite, productive members of society.
