Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all over the world and love to learn! Over 85% of my students speak English as a second language at home, and 95% of them qualify for free and reduced lunch.
My students are excited to be at school, and they want to read, read, read!
Our classroom library is small, and in order to meet my students varying needs, I'm hoping to build a classroom the meets their varied levels and interests. They love to learn, and eager to read, but we need more books!
My Project
When students can make a choice, they feel empowered. By building our classroom library, students will have access to high-interest texts and have more choices about what they would like to read.
Having more choices of books at their level will enable students to grow as readers!
When students are given a choice about what to read and provided with books that are of interest to them, there is no stopping them. My students are often found hiding books in their desks because they love to read, but often my students don't have enough books that are at their level to choose from.
Help them develop as readers by helping us expand our classroom library.
