As a resource room teacher, I would teach all grades and academics, kindergarten through fourth grade throughout the day. I work with a variety of student needs including, but not limited to, learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, and social/emotional needs. My students are wonderful and love celebrating the everyday successes of being in school.
Although my students face challenges academically, socially, and emotionally, they do not shy from the difficulties.
In fact, they embrace every opportunity to learn and grow.
In this new distance learning era, my students were stripped of the daily support they are used to receiving to complete academic work. It is challenging for my students to navigate online, learning at home, and many families find it too overwhelming to even try.
My Project
Help me give my students books at their reading level so that they may continue "growing their brains" while we don't get to be at school together. Beginning readers need to practice reading skills daily. Since many of my students don't have access to new books, I want to give them this chance!
Books will be exciting and fun gifts for students which will encourage growth while we all learn from home.
Students can take ownership over their learning at home with books that they can call their own. They can also continue to practice reading and become rockstar readers!
