My fourth grade class is a hardworking group of students. They come from tough backgrounds and a difficult home life where some needs go unmet.
Despite their tough circumstances my students come to school eager to discover new things.
They light up when they learn something new and can't wait to share their findings with others.
They are a tight knit family that relies on each other for support. My students are learning more than math and science, they are learning to love learning.
My students need a class library. They need books that meet their reading level which is anywhere from a kindergarten level to the seventh grade.
I am a first year teacher in need of help getting books for my class.
The few books I have are hand-me-downs from previous teachers. They are old and falling apart and in desperate need of replacement.
Most students don't have books at home that they can read so I would like the ability to let them borrow some from school. The books will be used for morning meetings so that we can discuss their lessons and the magic worlds within. They will be used for small group instruction so that my students can feel a sense of accomplishment in having read a chapter book. They will be used to buddy read so that students can feel like they belong while they are improving their reading skills.
