My Students

A key goal within our school district is "to foster the development of knowledge and skills to enable and motivate students to become lifelong learners." This goal is especially important when applied to the education of exceptional learners and their unique learning needs. My classroom is a self-contained special education classroom containing 8 students in Kindergarten and First Grade.

My students are hardworking and dedicated learners, but require adaptable materials that range in difficulty to meet their individual performance levels.

Each of my students have one or more disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Microcephaly, Intellectual Disabilities, various Speech and Language Disorders, Visual Impairments, and more.

My Project

Leveled literacy books are essential for special education students as it allows for literacy instruction to be modified to meet the needs of each and every student.

By donating to our classroom project, you will be improving our student's performance in reading fluency and comprehension, boosting confidence and self-esteem, and most importantly, you will be inviting students to discover the joys of reading.

Students who read various texts at their appropriate level find reading FUN and begin to read more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is perfect way to not only build better readers, but to show students that reading is an important lifelong activity.
