Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I get to teach the most amazing kids. I know every teacher says that, but mine are truly spectacular. I have a diverse group of learners, many with learning disabilities.
I get to teach 6th grade at a Title I, public school, and my students are currently at a 3rd grade achievement level.
Even though we have a lot of work to do academically, they come to school every day eager to dive into work. I hope I can give them the opportunity to succeed in this world.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in my students learning because these are books they want to read. The best way to improve in reading is by reading! Students that struggle with reading often have negative experiences with books and reading. By giving kids access to books they are interested in, we are creating positive experiences with books.
By creating positive experiences with books, we are showing them that they are readers, too.
All readers, whether they are reluctant readers or old pros, deserve to read books that they enjoy. Please help these kids have that opportunity to explore a hidden passion for reading.
