Books for Black History Month in a Pre-K Classroom!

My Students

I work with an incredible group of diverse pre-kindergarten students. Most of the students come from low-income families, so educational materials are hard to come by.

Early childhood grades have always been something that is very near and dear to my heart.

There are so many different cultures and personalities, but the one thing that my students all have in common is that they all love to learn and work together as a classroom community. They each have a lot to offer and share.

My Project

Books are desperately needed in the library. February is Black History Month, and I would love to have a library where our students feel represented in the stories. We have a limited amount of new, relevant books on racial justice and racial representation, especially for my really young readers.

Books that reflect what our population looks like are needed.

Students want to know and read about people that look like them. We want our students to be able to check books out, take them home, read and share with their family. It is important that our students obtain knowledge about racial justice and representation at an early age.
