My school is comprised of 90% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and 32% English language learners. It is located in a small urban town in middle Tennessee. My students are curious about the world around them, enthusiastic about everything we do, and creative. They love hands-on activities, books, science, and imaginative play. Everything is exciting to a kindergarten student! These amazing kids deserve the best resources, environment, and experiences I can possibly provide for them. I am blessed to be their teacher.
My Project
My kindergarten students have learned their letters and sounds and are now ready to become readers! I currently only have around fifteen level A-D books in my classroom library. In order for my students to become independent readers they need more books on their level. The more they read, the better they become. I’ve seen them read a leveled book and completely light up with joy because they did it on their own. It’s the most amazing thing to see. I would love for my classroom library to have these books available to build their knowledge about the world and for enjoyment during reading centers.
