Joy! That is what you can see in the eyes of kindergartners in my classroom. They are learning about their world through eyes that love to seek, hands that like to explore, a mind so hungry for learning, and a brain that has endless potential. As my learners create they like to share and engage others in what they are doing. They love to show what they know.
When I can place a book they love in their hands it is memorable moment and a smile shared.
Often they will will reread this book because they love it.
All the efforts they have made this year are paying off. My learners love to read and they are ready for early chapter books. I borrow from other teachers in our school, visit local libraries and purchase some on my own. I would love to be able to offer them more choices on our very own own classroom library shelves!
My Project
As an early reader just going on adventures I would love to introduce our youngest readers to series they will love because they can read them and understand them. Meeting characters like Mercy Watson, EllRay Jakes, Dragon Masters, Poppleton, Ivy and Bean, and more will open the world of reading to my students ready to dive into beginning chapter books.

For them new books right at their finger tips will encourage them to meet characters they may not have an opportunity to know. These texts will meet them where they are and encourage voracious reading because they are exciting and new!
