As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with challenges but come to school each and every day ready to learn and experience new ideas. My students are loving, caring, and value their relationship with their teachers and our school. It is important to have the ability to provide as many resources as I can, because at home most students do not have that support or resources. My students are readers, researchers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists, who are on the road to success but need the resources to help get there!
My students know that our school is a safe place where all students are loved and cared for each day.
It is my goal this year to have a variety of read aloud books to incorporate various learning styles and ethnicities.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the quality of my classroom read alouds. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. Our school is a myriad of color and ethnicities. I want every child to have the opportunity to see children like them in books.
With these new books, my students will be able to feel good about themselves as well as learning how to understand and be positive about diverse cultures.
They will also be able to learn how to be kind, confident and loving in their everyday lives. In addition, my students will be exposed to quality literature.
