This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with 6th grade students from a variety of backgrounds, with a wide range of knowledge and abilities. These students each have big dreams, specific interests, a variety of strengths, and their own personal challenges.

Our school is a K-8, elementary charter school, in a large, urban school district.

We have high academic expectations for our students, and our mission is to prepare them for their futures. In our classroom, we work every minute, every day, to learn, laugh, and challenge ourselves.

My Project

My students read three novels throughout the year. Every year the majority of my students need to use digital copies of the books because I do not have enough physical copies to give to every student. Nothing compares to having an actual paper novel in your hands when reading. I'd like to give every student a physical copy of the book so they no longer have to read the books off of the computer. With physical books students can use post it notes mark important information, more easily refer back to places in the book and most importantly put away all technology and truly focus on discussions.
