This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are largely English Language Learners, and some of them have not had an English teacher in a couple of years. Many of them are not super enthusiastic about reading, so I want to give them books to read that will speak to them and their experiences.

My students are good kids.

They just need a chance to be able to read something that meets them where they are. For some of them, that means they need to be able to read in Spanish while learning English, and I want to get them to that point. It will take time, but I have plenty of that.
