My students put a smile on my face with all of the silliness, love, smiles, and hugs I get every day!
There is no better reward than getting to be part of all of their lives.
I love every minute of teaching and learning with them! With nearly 70% of my students coming from homes that qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches, getting them to think about Language Arts can be challenging, but my kids are willing to trust me and start the learning process every day to help ensure that love and desire to learn. I want them to be able to take it with them as they grow and enter the world. I am teaching the future and I know it will be bright.
My Project
My students need a library. I am a second year teacher and I have started working on a collection and have brought in my own books from when I was a kid, but it doesn't fill the needs of hungry learners. Students need choices of all kinds to let their hearts and souls explore and help find that love for reading.
I am hoping to get enough books that will fill our shelves and our minds.
Book clubs are something the students enjoy talking about. It makes reading so much cooler if their friends are reading the same book and they have the ability to talk about the book together. Seeing my students lay across the floor with their nose stuck in a book fills me with so much joy. They get to go and explore the world, different times, different shoes, and so much more. Books provide a magic that that may not get at home. Books are hope.
