My students are an amazing group of scholars! We are so excited to include STEAM activities into our everyday learning. My 23 students are excited to find new tools to help them learn in cooperative groups as well as independently. I am so excited to start another great year in first grade!

My Project
These books, selected by our students, will make a difference each and every day in our classroom. When I introduced our classroom library students were so excited to see the selection of books. Over the last few weeks I have been able to gather information on their interests and see what kind of books they would like in our library to read each day. I truly feel these books will make a difference in our class! I cannot wait for kids to come in each day excited to select new books. Students will be amazed to find books they adore and want to read over and over! The students each had an idea to share about making our book list for this grant!
Each day we set aside 20 minutes of read to self time where students get an opportunity to enjoy the books in our classroom library they selected themselves.
It is important children have a wide variety of books to choose from so they can stay engaged as they build their reading skills. Students also have an opportunity to read to someone for 20 minutes a day. A library full of high interest books at a variety of reading levels allows students to engage in meaningful conversations as they read together. I know our students will be thrilled to see their selections appear in our library!
