Second grade is a fun and exciting year for children. They are moving from the very beginning foundations of learning to making connections and creating their own learning in the classroom. In my class this year, we will cover all subjects together. Along with the content, we will be focusing on life skills to improve our future. I will be teaching 22 second graders in a self-contained classroom.
My students come from a variety of cultures and background, but together we are one classroom family.
We will create a community in my classroom where all students feel like they belong and are wanted. My students will learn that in school we make a lot of mistakes and that mistakes are needed in order to learn. Relationships are what our class will be centered around, and how we will learn to have a successful year together!
My Project
Being a first-year teacher one thing that's lacking in my classroom is a good library. Students need great literature to make connections with and to find a passion for reading. I need a variety of books to offer for my students so they can find what interests them and so they are not limited on their options.
I want my students to find a passion for reading so they will want to read and excel.
I believe reading helps students succeed in all content areas.
I would like to provide the best opportunities for my students to get to experience many different kinds of literature. I also want each student to be able to experience a great book no matter where they are with their reading abilities. This will require many different options for them to choose from. I would love if you could help my students have these experiences and opportunities. All it takes is a good book.
