My students are incredible self-advocates who seek adult help when trying to solve a problem. They are eager to understand who they are as people and how they can most positively engage with the world around them.
We believe that when students are feeling safe and confident, they are better equipped to handle this changing world.
Adversity does not discriminate and these students face challenges every day in their personal and academic lives. These challenges range from family struggles and friendship issues to anxiety, grief, and the rigorous standards set for them.
The list of challenges facing students on a daily basis could go on and on. But the good news is, our kids are incredibly resilient. Given the right supports, they grow and thrive!
My Project
There are few authors who understand what students need the way Julia Cook does! Having been a school counselor herself, she has created an extensive library of resources that school counselors use on a daily basis. Growing her library in our counseling office will help me reach students in a new way.
"Books by Cook - Part 2" will allow me to continue engaging with my students on even more topics, helping addressing their concerns, problems, and needs through stories.
Expanding our Julia Cook library will allow students to connect and learn about their own social-emotional and academic needs.
Relating to a character in a story is an amazing way to look at our problems in a different way and allows students to experience success in difficult situations.
Being able to provide an avenue of learning and growing through these books will make a world of difference for my students.
