I teach in a low income school in a large city in Ohio. All students are eligible for free lunch and come from a low socioeconomic back ground. My students are in grades 6-8 in a self-contained classroom. My special education students are a unique blend of young people and have a range of disabilities. Our students are at 100% poverty level.
My students are young scholars who work hard every day and try their best.
We need books for our classroom library. I ask my students to read daily and take Accelerated Reader quizzes and they need need more books within their reading level. My students really like to read but need more interesting books.
My Project
My students are in a self-contained special education classroom and in many cases I have them for multiple years. We need books that are interesting and catchy, books they want to read. I have asked for level 2 and 3 books because that is where most of my students reading levels are at. The sets I chose will interest my students and give them more options when it's time to read. They are reluctant readers and many have read a lot of the books we currently have in our classroom library already. Help us get books that they will want to read!
