Mrs. Wolber from Carpentersville IL is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need green and blue book bins to hold our new Spanish and English books that we have been adding to our continuously growing classroom library.
It is my privilege to teach a group of 15 highly motivated, curious, and intelligent dual language first grade students in Carpentersville, Illinois. They work hard every day learning content and language skills in both Spanish and English. My school is in a high poverty area in Illinois and many of my students don't have access to many quality Spanish or English books or educational materials at home. Their parents support their education as much as possible, but many times don't have the means or materials to do so. This is why I try and do what I can to get quality Spanish and English books and materials in their hands however I can in our classroom.
My students are also passionate about reading this year in Spanish and in English, and they have so many different interests!
Because of their enthusiasm we've added tons of new books in Spanish and English to our classroom library, but we don't have enough bins for all our books!
Since our library has grown so much this year, we have run out of places to put our new books! Our old bins that are labeled by topics, authors, and reading series are bursting full of books! Many of our new books are sitting in piles on a table waiting for a new home because I have run out of new bins to put them in. On top of this wonderful issue to have, our district has also mandated that our new dual language classrooms use the color green for Spanish and blue for English when separating the two languages. Unfortunately, I have all of my Spanish books organized in red bins… I now have to replace those red bins with green ones to follow this new district mandate!
With these new green and blue book bins we will be able to replace our old red Spanish bins (as our district is mandating) and continue to grow and expand our classroom library to make it easier to find books and give every one of our new books a proper home!So please help us continue to grow our classroom library with these new book bins!
