Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In a highly diverse, Title I school, we dedicate ourselves to meeting the unique needs of all our learners. We constantly strive toward success through educating, empowering, and aspiring.
We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of each individual student by keeping their unique interests piqued and guiding them to their full potential.
However, the changes that have occurred during the past pandemic have proven challenging. Not only do we need to focus on teaching our students academics, but we also need to do so in a way that is engaging, inclusive, and meets their wide range of needs.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-during whole class read-alouds that build classroom community, while sharing an exciting book with a partner, and while independently devouring a book catered to a student's unique level and interests! Every student book that is placed in my library is chosen thoughtfully and with love and care in order to develop my students into the readers and leaders of the future.
With these new diverse books, it is my hope that my students will be able to enjoy a variety of titles that will be both a mirror that reflects their unique self and also a window that allows them to open their mind to the diversity that exists in our world.
The best way to increase reading skills and strategies is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. With the great emphasis placed on the importance and joy of reading in my classroom, this project will truly help enrich their literacy experiences!
