My Students

Do you remember your favorite book when you were a child? It must have made an impact for you to have that memory. Give that powerful experience with books to another student!

The first encounter many students have with literacy is from a book provided to them in a classroom.

I teach first grade in an elementary school in Louisville, Kentucky. I have 24 wonderful students in my classroom. They represent a diverse group of cultures and backgrounds. We need classic children’s books for listening and reading.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of classic children’s books. The books currently in our classroom are old and worn out. I need help to refresh our collection and get some new books. Please give quality books to my students.

I want these new books for students to simply enjoy.

I plan to read these books aloud to my class. I’ve found that this is my students favorite time of the day (except for recess of course.) I also plan for students to be given time to read and enjoy these books for themselves. It is critical that students have access to books as they are learning to read.
