My students need books to nourish and nurture their love in reading. We are hoping to get classroom sets of some novels for group reading, as well as single novels for independent reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students range in level of proficiency in Spanish, but they all have in common their eagerness to learn Spanish. I have students in the honors classes, and students in the conversational level. All of them love to read!
Despite their level of proficiency, students need books that make them feel successful in learning Spanish.
My students love to read, I see them reading every single sign or poster that I add to the classroom. It makes them feel good that they can read in a foreign language.
My Project
With this set of books I will start my classroom library. I want to have books for different levels of proficiency, and I want to encourage my students to do some independent reading in the target language, as well as group reading with me.
It is my hope that, even in the days when we don't have group reading, they get up when they are finished with the work, and head to our classroom library to do some independent reading.
This will assist me in teaching TPRS (teaching proficiency through reading and storytelling). I cannot wait to see my students reading and enjoying reading!
