This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Low-income. Homeless. High poverty. These are words that people often use to describe our scholars. However, the words people should concentrate on are high achievers, determined learners, and creative thinkers.
We are scholars who have a hunger to learn, a passion for knowledge, and a need to succeed.
We are looking to expand our critical-thinking skills, explore our creativity, and develop our talents for twenty-first-century learning. We are looking to develop our gifts and talents and need your help to do so.
My Project
High-interest books related to topics that scholars love help to engage them in the reading process. Scholars love to read Bad Kitty, Ezra Jack Keats, and more. We know we can make reading time more successful and interesting by getting more books kids love in the classroom.
We are looking to enhance our library with books the scholars indicated they wanted to read.By having these books as mentor texts for our reading and writing units we will be able to better engage our scholars in literature.
The books selected are meant to help kids find a love of reading by keeping them interested in high-interest topics.
