I am a second grade teacher at Monarch Elementary School. This is a school with more than 70% free or reduced lunch students. For the most part, my students' homes are inadequately equipped with the books they need. I would love to change that in my classroom for my 15 students. I am working on a unit about "relationships" to include family and friends. I would like to expose my students to different genres of literature like poetry, fiction, or nonfiction. There is even an author study on Mem Fox in my plans since she has written many books on this subject. These children need to hear good books on the subject of relationships and how they work. They need to see conflict and how people resolve it without hurting each other. I would really like to be able to get some of these book sets so that each student could hold their own copy and enjoy the study even more. My students love to read and I know that they will love these new books!
