Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students and sixth grade ELA and social studies students. They are avid readers. I constantly feel like I don't have enough books in my classroom library to satisfy their thirst for knowledge.
My students read both independently and in groups.
I like to offer a variety of genres and topics for them to choose from each year. There are so many new and innovative books coming out now that I want to be able to provide for my students.
My Project
My students need up-to-date literature in the classroom. They are constantly tearing through my books and in need of new ones to read. I want to make sure my classroom library has a variety of book genres with a variety of protagonists.
This project includes politically and culturally relevant book topics, as well as some old classics, and fantasy books.
My students will use these for independent reading, as well as for literature circle projects that they will complete in groups this spring. Having new titles and a variety of options is extremely motivating for students. Thank you in advance for your support!
