Where to start? My students are first graders in a Title I school. They are a goofy bunch and we like to think of ourselves as one big family! One of my students' favorite things to do is read! I love seeing their excitement and joy that comes from their reading experiences. My students are like little sponges-- soaking up knowledge daily. Much of their knowledge and growth comes from reading books!
My students have a love of learning and reading which needs to be fostered!
As a first year teacher, my classroom library is in need of growth, specifically for leveled reading books. My students and I would greatly appreciate your help bringing leveled books into our classroom!
My Project
Children should be reading daily because reading is fundamental in a child's learning and development. In our classroom, my students read daily and they LOVE our reading times. However, as my students continue to grow and increase in their reading abilities and reading levels, we are running out of books that are appropriate and at their reading levels! My students need a wide range of books available to them at their reading levels so that they can be interested in and feel ownership over the books that they select to read.
