My students need books for our classroom library. It is important for students to have leveled books to encourage confidence in their reading, fluency, and comprehension skills.
Our school is in a small rural community with 60% of our students coming from low income families. At our school we are committed to giving each student a community feel, with the freedom to learn and grow in a nurturing environment. My students have curious minds and a love for learning. They work hard each day to meet goals that they have set for themselves. My students are not only hard working and motivated learners, but kind and caring individuals as well.
My Project
My students need leveled reader books for our classroom library. We will use these reading materials to help with students’ fluency, comprehension, and accuracy. My students will use these books in class to participate in activities like read to self, read to a partner, reading to their teachers, or during free read time. They may also use these books during guided reading groups. Leveled readers make a difference in a child's education because it takes away the "one size fits all" mentality and personalizes learning for each child.
Students who read books on their level, on average, produce a 90% accuracy rate.
This means the student is confident, learning, and practicing important parts of reading like fluency and comprehension. Help me to encourage and inspire learning through reading.
