My students need 10 Texas Bluebonnet award winning books to draw upon their passion for reading such as The Fog Diver, Echo, and Crenshaw.
This project expired on May 10, 2016.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
"To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science." - Albert Einstein
This speaks to the way learning through science relates to our thinking. We question everything.
We are an amazing school nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Texas.
Our class has an incredible mix of diversity of students from Japan, Middle East, Russia, and the United States. Each student brings many talents. My students are hungry for books and love to learn new discoveries.
We will read rich literature every day such as The Fog Diver, Echo, and Crenshaw. We will read in guided reading, shared reading, read aloud, and independent reading. Our hope is that our students will become lifelong readers and you may see them in a coffee shop, in a book club enjoying the social destination.
With a comfortable ambiance of a reading classroom, students lead a structured science book club that supports an effective conversation.
As students read the science books, members can take turns sharing their reactions or brainstorm discussion questions on Post-its about science concepts. Students sharing multiple opinions and drawing on these aspects can make for especially fruitful conversation.
