Reading is so fun! I want my students to have an abundant choice of books to choose from! We have only been in school a week, and I have boys and girls already asking to learn how to read. I believe that having a print rich environment that is inviting is the beginning to having great readers.
I have a class full of bright kindergarteners that are already excited to read!
Our school is populated with the majority of students living below the poverty level, but that doesn't stop them from having high goals and expectations. I want to provide for them a print rich environment so that reading in inviting and exciting for them!
My Project
The books that I am requesting will be placed in my classroom library so that my students will have access to them daily. I can also use them for shared reading times throughout the day. If I can add to my classroom library, then I can remove some books that are old and beyond repairing. I replaced a teacher that had taught for 40 years, and many of the books I have are falling apart and are missing several pages. I believe that when books are crisp and new, and not falling apart, that students will be more likely to pick them up and read!
Many of my students do not get a chance to visit a public library nor do they own their own books; therefore I want to provide for them an amazing variety of books to enjoy.
I want to teach my students how fun reading can be and instill in them the value of reading and how it will help them throughout the rest of their educational careers! The books I have requested will help me do that!
