My students need books! Our library is in need of the newest and latest books that all the children see in the stores, but unfortunately, their parents will not buy.
The library is the hot spot at our school. Because we have such a strong Accelerated Reader program, the children are constantly checking out books from the library. And guess what? They want the newest and latest books!
Our students are scholars.
We ask them to reach 150% of their Accelerated Reader goal, but most like to exceed, which means we have students who want to make 350% of their goal. In fact, a high point goal is around 50 points per trimester. Last year we had a student whose point goal for the entire year was nearly 400 points! Do you know how many books she read? That's amazing!
My Project
As you can see reading and having our children connect with a love for reading early in life is so important. Creating that bond is essential for their success in life. They deserve to have the newest and latest books so they stay connected to reading.
This project will make a difference in so many ways.
First, my favorite, will be to see them jump up and smile when they find out that we have these new books in our library. Second, seeing that excitement shows that they have a learned how awesome reading is! And, of course, after they have finished the book, they can take an AR test and help them achieve a goal. Goal setting is so important.
