Books, Books, Books!
My students need leveled books to read during reading workshop.
My students truly have a thirst for learning. They love to read and learn about how real authors write.
My classroom is comprised of thirty wonderful second grade students.
There are thirteen girls and seventeen boys in my classroom. My school is part of an open-enrollment district. This means that a lot of my students commute from other areas to attend my school.
The students will use these materials on a daily basis in my classroom. Specifically, the students will read the leveled books during reading workshop. Leveled readers are important because they provide the students with a resource they can use to practice the skills/strategies in our daily mini-lessons. The audio books will serve as a model for reading fluency. In addition, it will be used as a way to increase my students' listening comprehension abilities.
Reading and writing are everything in second grade!
They provide a foundation for future learning to take place. Thus, these materials will assist me in instilling a strong literary foundation within each of my students.
