Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of 17 enthusiastic, caring, and more often than not, silly first graders. My students walk into school, excited to begin a day of reading, exploration, and fun! Walking through our classroom door you'll hear chatter and laughter as students are working together to learn new concepts.
My students are budding readers and writers and come to school excited to learn.
As I work at a Title I school, where the majority of our students receive free and reduced lunch, my students come to school with a wide range of experiences and abilities. Our classroom, is a place where students feel safe, loved, and above all else, feel that they are important.
My Project
Through the donation of guided reading books, students will have the opportunity to practice their reading on a daily basis. Students will use reading strategies they have learned throughout the year and apply them to their own reading. They will develop their fluency and decoding skills. These books will encourage them to practice more and become better readers!
These books will not only help students develop their reading skills but, also, foster their love of reading.
My students and myself are greatly looking forward to additional books in the classroom!
