Books, Books, Books. We Would Love Some New Books!
My students need some new books. They have grown to be such book lovers. Many times I have to borrow books from the local library, but we would love to have some of our favorites.
Books, Books, and Books! Each day we gather to read books. I'm their first teacher, it’s my job to show them the joys of listening, reading, and interacting while reading. I select books very carefully; I look for books that will capture their attention, introduce new vocabulary, books that will make them think! So much learning stems from books. I want my children to walk away from preschool with a love for books. My students are special to me; I want to be able to teach without restrictions, I want to be able to offer them literature that will take them places.
My Project
Read aloud 15 minutes a day and Classroom Book a Day are two movements that encourage teachers to take the time each and every day to read to their students. Why? Because reading is life changing. Reading to young children supports healthy brain development and forms the foundation for success in school. Reading aloud promotes language and literacy development. Reading aloud builds motivation, curiosity, and encourages them write, draw, retell. Quality books encourage children react to stories, to explore, and learn. We love to read books and then make puppets, draw the story, have story performance, with a good book the options are endless.
