Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love the fact that my students love to learn. They are the best group of kids with so much potential and love for school. They are special in that each one of my students are unique and have different needs but all have a common thread in that we are considered family in my class. They have overcome so much in their short lives and they continue to press on to be the best they can be.
I have the absolute best 2nd grade class in Compton who have come a very long way in their reading.
I had students who were not even reading 10 words per minute but are now reading well over 100 words per minute. They have found a love for reading and get excited with every new chapter book we read together in class. They absolutely love reading now. My students are inquisitive, voracious readers who are craving to discover the newest adventures in their favorite book series.

My students have found a love for reading.
I would like to give them the Time Magazines, nonfiction text, for them to keep up with current events and a variety in their reading. We recently started research on various nonfiction topics and they are so excited to learn about different science and social studies topics. They would be so excited to get regular magazines which we could use in class.
The book "The Day the Crayons Quit" would be read as a class to teach about multiple perspectives. Being 2nd graders, they still love picture books and I have read this book to them in class. They would love their very own copy of it to take home and keep.
