The majority of my students cannot wait to start reading!
The students in my classroom are from a high poverty area where their parents work long hours to provide for them. Many of the students stay for an extended day which includes before and after care. With the proper reading materials, not only will they be learning, but they will be having fun as well! The typical school day consists of a morning meeting, math, language arts and reading. The students also have specials (gym, art, etc.) and science and social studies in a general education classroom. We have many different centers to explore such as math, literacy, play kitchen, toys and games.
My Project
Many of my students are just starting to read and become interested in books. These new books will become part of our classroom library and will be of great interest to the students. Our classroom library right now is very small and does not adequately provide enough reading materials or enough reading levels for all of my students.
This project will have a huge impact on my students!
