My students are a diverse group of individuals. They come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of advantages.
Our school is a Title I school and our population is made up of about 50% low-income families.
As a teacher, I always strive to level the playing field between my students and to offer engaging resources. My goal is to make ALL of my students want to learn. Unfortunately, on a teacher's salary, this is not always easy. That is why I am turning to Donors Choose for a little help.
My Project
As an elementary teacher one of my biggest goals is to help foster a lifelong love of reading. My dream is for my students to be lifelong readers. Throughout the pandemic my students relied heavily on the classroom library as our trips to the school library were limited. This year our library is in need of a refresh.
It is said that an effective classroom library should have about 20 books per student, that means ideally my library would have over 400 books!
That goal is hard to obtain on a teacher's salary. That is why I am asking for your help.
Please help my students by bringing high interest novels series' like: Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Percy Jackson and others into our classroom.
